Documentation
Install Myko, connect a model and learn the core workflow.
Install
Windows
Download the installer from the download page and run it. If SmartScreen warns about an unrecognized app (the build is unsigned), choose More info, then Run anyway. WSL distributions can be used as workspace environments when installed.
Linux
Choose the package that fits your system: .deb for Debian/Ubuntu, .rpm for Fedora/RHEL, or the universal AppImage.
chmod +x Myko_*.AppImage
./Myko_*.AppImage
If your system has no FUSE support:
./Myko_*.AppImage --appimage-extract-and-run
If you see rendering problems on some Wayland setups:
WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1 ./Myko_*.AppImage
macOS
No macOS build is available yet.
Connect an AI provider

- Open the AI workspace.
Supported cloud providers: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Groq, xAI, Cerebras, OpenRouter, DeepSeek, Mistral and OpenAI-compatible endpoints. Supported local runtimes: LM Studio, MLX and Ollama. For local AI, start your runtime first.
Core workflow
- Composer: describe the task. Use
@pathto reference files and#handlefor saved snippets. Slash commands are available too. - Attachments: attach files, editor selections or terminal selections.
- Project instructions: put conventions and context in
MYKO.mdin your project. - Plan mode and todos: have the agent lay out steps before editing.
- Review: edits open as diffs. Accept, reject or keep editing.
- Approvals: shell commands can require approval depending on your configuration.
Git and preview
Use the Source Control view to stage files or hunks, commit, push and browse the commit graph. Commit with Ctrl + Enter (Windows/Linux) or Cmd + Enter (macOS). Start a local dev server in the terminal and Myko can detect it and open a preview tab.
Known limitations
- Windows builds are unsigned.
- Debugging supports Python only.
- Database clients are read-only by default; writes require explicit confirmation.
- On Linux without a Secret Service, API keys fall back to a user-readable file that is not encrypted. See Security.
- No macOS build has been published yet.
